MIB leads 2,766 swachhata events, mobilises 60,000 participants nationwide

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has conducted 2,766 events, with nearly 60,000 people participating.

In a statement, the ministry said that the events included Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), cleanliness campaigns, door-to-door activities, awareness campaigns, drawing competitions, swachhata rallies, and various cultural activities like poem recitation, Nukkad Natak, and slogan writing.

Under the cleanliness campaigns, a total of 1,588 spots were cleaned and 824 CTUs were transformed. The total events organised under Advocacy for Swachhata, Clean Green Utsav, and Safaimitra Suraksha Shivirs were 198, 49, and 107, respectively.

The ministry also organised special events on September 25 under ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Sath’ and on October 2 to mark ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’, where officers and staff stepped out to clean the surroundings.

I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju reviewed the progress during the preparatory as well as implementation phases with all the Heads of Media Units and their Nodal Officers, and gave directions for the proper execution of the events under the campaign.

Jaju also led the shramdaan activity under the ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative at the Main Secretariat, Shastri Bhawan, here. The ministry further stated that the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Amravati, also organised a Swachhata rally, while DPD officials carried out a cleanliness drive in New Delhi. Doordarshan Kendra Mumbai conducted a major beach-cleaning drive at Dadar, and similar initiatives were undertaken by Akashvani Amethi, Akashvani Imphal, NFDC Mumbai, and other media units.

Other significant initiatives included cleanliness drives by CBFC Delhi, a Swachhata rally by the Press Council of India, a door-to-door awareness campaign by IIMC Delhi, a street play by DDK Patna, a Swachhotsav by AIR Ahmedabad, and a health camp organised by DDK Delhi, among others.
